Question: how long did it take to become a doctor

I went to medical school for 6 years. Most courses are 5 years but I decided to do an extra year in the middle to do some research and get an extra degree too. Once you graduate you are a junior doctor and doing on the job training. The first two years (foundation jobs) are an opportunity to do different specialties and then after than you can chose what you want to do. I chose paediatrics, which then has another 8 years of training and several exams before being a consultant.
