      This is a really interesting question!

      So patients with different disease, which are caused by a lack of DNA repair factors result in different mutation patterns, known as DNA mutational signatures.

      Because different DNA repair factors repair different types of DNA damage, removing a specific type of repair results in a unique type of mutation.

      We see mutational patterns that range of large deletions of DNA, single nucleotide changes (A swapped for a G in the seqeucen) or bits of DNA swapped around, known as rearrangements!
