Lorena Boquete Vilarino answered on 28 Jun 2019:
I used to play a lot of sports when I was in school. I did martial arts 2 days a week and basketball 4 days a week, plus matches. My bones are a bit fragile and I’m double jointed, which means I can get injured very easily. I used to sprain my ankles and my fingers all the time, and I spent lots of time getting treated by physiotherapists. They were incredible people whom I really admired, I would go in with lots of pain and sometimes not even able to move my foot and after a couple of sessions I was able to go back to training and playing matches! I basically wanted to help other people the way they helped me 🙂 I even bought some sports massage books and started practicing on my family
I still admire physiotherapists a lot. I play less sports now but still get injured every now and then, and every time I go to the physio I wish I could help people the way they help me. But I do think I chose the right career for me – I can be a bit squeamish when dealing with other people’s injuries
