You mean like a plane? 😄

I think it is possible that one day cars could be made to fly – especially with all the advances in drone technology in recent years. However, I don’t think that these would come into routine use anytime soon. The safety of flying cars would be a big aspect. We would have no idea how safe these cars would be to drive, and this would need to be tested thoroughly before allowing anyone to drive them. If a car was to malfunction in the middle of the air, this could cause serious harm to lots of people on the ground. Economic factors would also come into play – for example how expensive it would be to run a flying car. I’m not sure that flying cars would take over from cars today for everyday use. I do think that it is possible that cars could be made to fly in some way or another though. Prototypes have been made by various companies, but none have gone into production to date.

Well, I guess in some ways they already do as planes and helicopters fly and so it would just be necessary to make them on a smaller scale and for them to need smaller areas to take off and land. If flying cars came in there would need to be some tight regulations as to how and where you could land and take off or it would become total chaos and be very dangerous. I think the idea of everyone having a flying car sounds pretty cool but in reality it wouldn’t be that easy for safety reasons. Maybe if I was the only person allowed to have a flying car that would be fine though!

They already do – there’s a flying Ford Anglia in Harry Potter 🙂 I joke of course, I know Harry Potter isn’t real… ish.

I imagine we probably could make cars fly, but if all the cars could fly we’d still have terrible traffic as we’d just be in traffic jams in the air instead. 🙂 Our driveways would also have to be really long for us to be able to take off. Unless we had hovering cars! Or helicopter cars. I’m a bit scared of flying so I’d rather have a ground car. 🙂

That would be pretty cool, for sure! I imagine it would be possible. Planes, helicopters, etc. are possible so why not cars?

I think that ‘flying’ cars in terms of with wings are already possible. After all, we already have a car that is also a boat and a car that is even a submarine!

In terms of ‘hover’ cars, this is in fact already possible…. the bullet train in Japan is a ‘hover’ train (it uses magnets to keep it in ‘hovering’ over the tracks and the magnets change in order to move it forwards).

This could be used for cars, but unfortunately it would be REALLY expensive to put into place…

Only if they were economically viable, environmentally sustainable, and safer than cars own the road.
I really hope so…it would sort out the traffic on the M25

I think that personal flying machines probably will. Like lots of space shuttles gliding about in the air. I wonder how we will regulate where people can fly them? It’s not like you can have roads in the air!
