Unfortunately I am a medical doctor and so my knowledge on space is pretty limited – in fact the only thing I really know is that astronauts lose bone strength when they are in space because they do not participate in any weight bearing physical activity as there is no gravity. This is one of the reasons how we know weight bearing physical activity is so important for bone health.
I think there is a space zone chat board going on at the same time as this one so maybe pop your question on there and one of their experts will be able to give you a good answer I’m sure. Or maybe someone else on this board will have a space interest outside of their work and be able to help you out! Or if all else fails, try good old google!

Stephen Hawking suggested that it might be possible to go to another universe through a black hole but I’ll be honest I don’t completely understand it! From what we know about black holes currently, going past the event horizon of a black hole (which is like the point of no return) you would become spaghettified, which sadly I feel would ultimately kill us. 🙂 Black holes aren’t places that are high up on my travel list for this reason.

No idea sorry – his blog helped me to understand black holes a bit better, but I certainly cannot validate its contents!

Hope that help -

In terms of what is on the inside of a black hole, the short answer is we actually do not know… but most physicists agree that you’d go absolutely nowhere. You would basically just become a part of the black hole itself, making it slightly bigger…
There are theories that black holes could lead to other universes… this is to do with their effect on space-time, which becomes highly distorted and so they could be used as portals to another universe according so some theories. The most notable of these would be Sir Stephen Hawkins

You’re supposed to get stretched really long and thin – like spaghetti – in a black hole. So whilst it might be possible to travel using one. I’m don’t think you’d be alive when you came out the other side! I certainly won’t be trying it out!

As you fall into a black hole and cross its event horizon (the point of no-return), you might not notice much. However, at some point, you could be torn apart by tidal forces. This means that, if you fall head first, your feet will be attracted more than your head and that effect will be so strong that you could break apart. As you approach the black hole, time will also slow down. Suppose that you leave a friend and keep waving at him as you are falling towards the black hole, he will see you waving more and more slowly even if you will have the feeling to keep waving at the same speed. Space is also affected. Lengths shrink and space becomes really curved close to the black hole. For example, certain rays of light could go around it several times before escaping. Once you cross the even horizon, you can’t come back and even more strange things happen to space-time. In the equations, space takes the place of time and conversely. In reality, this does not mean much, only that our intuition about space and time is no longer valid there. At its centre, lies a singularity. This is where our theory breaks down and we don’t know what happens. Some crazy theories have been made about that. We can indeed make the maths say crazy things but this is probably not very reasonable.
