Going to the gym/cycling and (don’t laught..) gardening… I’m currently growing tomatoes, courgettes, blueberries, raspberries and melons!

I don’t think I can choose only one! I love videogames and boardgames, but also historical re-enactment – essentially going to festivals dressed up as a Viking, a Saxon, an Iron Age woman… whichever time period the festival is, and living like they did. It’s a lot of fun!

My Favourite hobby is by far playing on my drum kit! – nothing better to unwind and de-stress after a day at the lab.

I love travelling and exploring the world and spend far far too much time on the internet researching new places to go and trying to find the best price, but I enjoy doing that background research on the places nearly as much as I enjoy the trip!

Piano and art! Great ways to de-stress. If I had the time, I would be reading more (love a good crime thriller or fantasy), and sports such as badminton/tennis/cricket. I definitely need more hours in the day.

I really like rock climbing. You don’t need much equipment apart from some ropes and you can travel all over the world doing it.

Probably playing video games or, even more so, playing dungeons and dragons (yep, I’m one of those super geeks!). It’s so much fun to sit around with your friends having an adventure together. It’s always a great laugh and an awesome stress-reliever.

I like running to keep fit and clear my head and can do this whenever/wherever. I also spin poi (and when it’s safe, fire poi).

I don’t want to betray any of my hobbies by choosing a favourite but I suppose at the moment I’d have to say swimming, especially open water swimming. But I also love painting, playing computer games and playing the clarinet, which sadly I can’t do as often as I’d like because I live in a flat and don’t want to become a noisy neighbour.

I sing in an African choir – I love it! I “accidentally” joined the choir by going along with a friend (who subsequently bailed on me!) and I stayed in the choir! I never thought I would ever have the confidence to sing in public (and we dance too!), but it has been so much fun, and I have made some great friends too!

I love cooking, and am excited for the summer when I can forage plants and berries to make jams and drinks for my friends. I also love going to gigs and festivals and dancing my socks off after a long day at work. I try to do sports I enjoy, like cycling, yoga and rock climbing which are all really fun to do with friends.

Going to the gym, reading, cooking, driving and playing bass. I also really enjoy cleaning my car; warm day with lots of time to wash, polish and wax- great time to listen to podcasts while doing something useful with your time.

I’m not sure I can pick between my top two. Triathlon because the training keeps me fit and running/cycling with others can be really social. Scuba diving, because sight-seeing the underwater world is amazing 🐠🐟🦞!

Something, anything outdoors by myself. If I manage to make any time for myself I like to try and run up and down mountains as fast as I can. There’s a massive sense of freedom from being in a vast, wild and rugged landscape and moving effortlessly through it that I find exhilarating.

I have lots of hobbies so it’s difficult to choose! I love exercising (mainly weight lifting and keeping healthy at the gym), cooking and baking (I once applied for the Great British Bake Off!) and going to gigs to listen to live music. My favourite at the moment though is probably face painting at parties and festivals

My favourite hobby would have to be travelling! I love exploring the world, immersing myself into different cultures, and learning about what makes each country unique. I would visit every country in the world if I could, and wish that I had done more when I was younger and had long summer holidays 🙂 I also love taking long walks in the countryside, to appreciate nature and discover beautiful, hidden-away places.

Life without music would be unimaginable, but to me that’s more an everyday ‘essential’ than a hobby. I go to the gym a lot but what I love more than anything else is getting outside onto some hills and exploring the natural world. I like to travel too but there’s also endless natural wonders right here in the UK so you don’t have to go far to find something amazing! I used to help run an expedition society and this a great way of experiencing and learning about nature and culture in other places.

Videogames have been my addiction since I was 5 probably.
My first lab used to play T20 cricket against the other departments and that got me hooked on that.
I’m pretty rubbish but it’s a great way to switch off from science for a day, makes friends outside of my science sphere and to discover more of the surrounding countryside each time I’ve moved to a new city!
